The last goodbye
COVID - 19 PROTOCOL
Due to the current climate we are having to maintain a 2m social distancing protocol and clients are not allowed into the practice. If you would prefer to be with your pet when it is time to say goodbye we currently have a process in place to allow you to be with them but still maintain social distancing. Your pet will be brought into the practice for staff to insert an intravenous catheter. We will then bring your pet back outside to you into a quiet area and there will be a long line which allows us to administer the injection whilst standing away from you. Unfortunately, we are not able to undertake home visists for euthanasias at present due to the coronavirus pandemic. If you have any questions please do ask.
We understand that losing your pet is one of the hardest things many people have to face. We try to do all we can to make that difficult decision a little easier and fully understand the feelings of grief and loss that many clients experience.
If at any time you feel you would like to talk to one of our staff about the procedure; what to expect; when is the right time or what happens afterwards then please book an appointment and we will go through as much or as little as you would like and we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Although we understand it is an extremely emotional subject, it is often good to discuss these things advance so you can try to prepare yourselves and your families a little better. Especially regarding what you would like to happen to your pet afterwards.
We are happy to arrange a home visit if clients prefer or if you chose to come to the surgery we do our best to arrange it during a quieter time.
We can also discuss and help you to make the decision what you would like done with your pet afterwards as we can organise a full cremation or burial service. We use Pet Cremation Services, in Guilsborough, Northamptonshire (01604 740864) and they would also be happy to discuss any aspects of the services that they offer. Please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff if you wish to discuss any of these things in advance.
Please be aware that if you have booked an individual cremation for your pet then they will be collected from the practice on a Friday and the ashes are delivered back to us the following Friday. If you do not wish to wait this long then please speak to member of staff who will be happy to go through the alternative arrangements.
