Equine care.

It is with considerable sadness that I have decided to discontinue the provision of equine veterinary care at my practice.

This has not been an easy decision to take. Since relocating to our modern, purpose built treatment centre on Ickwell Road in 2011, we have continued to develop our small animal practice and are immensely proud of our independent 24/7, 365 service. First opinion equine veterinary care is now a distinct discipline and it is becoming increasingly challenging to ensure we offer our horse and pony owners the same high level of high quality care that we provide for our small animal clients. I know my veterinary colleagues share my sadness, but they also share my determination that our equine clients should have only the very best from a dedicated service.

I have decided to work with a long-standing, highly regarded professional colleague who specialises in premium, client focussed, first opinion equine veterinary care. Susanna Ballinger and I have the same values-led approach to looking after our clients and I know Susanna’s practice is best placed to ensure the seamless and efficient continuity of care you and your horse deserve.

Ballinger Equine is based further South than we are so she is unable to provide cover for clients North of the A421 and North West of Bedford. For further details refer to the ‘Service Area’ section at https://www.ballingerequine.com or call us if you would like advise about where to register.

My practice will cease to offer equine veterinary care as of the 1st January 2018. However, my colleagues and I are working closely with Susanna and the team at Ballinger Equine to ensure that, by registering with them before the new year, you may be assured of continuity of care, efficient transfer of clinical records and swift veterinary cover in the event of an emergency.

Of course, you are free to move to a practice of your choice, but Susanna has been working exclusively with horses in this area for some 15 years, firstly with C P Harris and, more recently as the Partner-in-charge of Rossdales Hertfordshire ambulatory practice. Ballinger Equine is an independent practice with direct access to all the region’s referral centres so, should it be necessary, your horse may quickly be referred to the most appropriate hospital or one of your own preference.

For more information, visit their practice website at ballingerequine.com. Should you have any questions I know both her practice and mine will be pleased to talk with you and I do recommend you register with them at your earliest opportunity.

I would like to thank you for your loyalty and business. We will all miss seeing your horses, but you may rest assured that our small animal practice is thriving and we will continue to offer a 24 hour emergency service to our small animal clients.
