Repeat Prescriptions

If your pet is on long term medication we can either issue you a prescription for a small fee for you to purchase your pet's medicines elsewhere or you can request a repeat prescription to be dispensed by the practice.

We do ask for 3 working days notice for repeat prescriptions as they need to be agreed by a veterinary surgeon. It gives the veterinary surgeon time to check the pet's history; allow time for the drug to be ordered in if necessary and for an appointment to be made if it is due a re examination. We are required by law to ensure that any animals we supply 'prescription only' medicines to are 'currently under our care'.

This means that we are obliged to re examine the animal at regular intervals. This will usually be every 6 months although it can vary depending on each individual case.
We do our very best to accommodate urgent requests for repeat medicines but we do appreciate 48 hours notice in order to offer our clients an efficient service.
